Über Mich

I am very pleased to provide you with a brief introduction to my educational and teaching background. I have had many years of work experience at the university level teaching English as a Second Language to students from all levels in the U.S.A., Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, and China. More specifically, I have taught as an Associate Professor for three years full time in Japan at Kyushu National University and served as a Lecturer of English at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. More recently, I was a Georgetown University English Language Fellows Participant for the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi for the Bureau of Cultural and Educational Affairs, where I worked to develop English language educational reform in Vietnam and served as co-host for the Voice of Vietnam Radio’s English Language Lessons Radio Program broadcast from Hanoi during May and June of 2014. Some of the courses I have taught as an English Instructor include English for Academic Purposes, Public Speaking in English, Basic English Conversation, Intensive Reading in English, English Listening I and II, Screen English, KET, FCE, IELTS, TOEFL, PET, and TOIEC test preparation course instructor and official test evaluator for IELTS and TOEFL. As an endorsed public high school teacher in Washington State, I have taught High School Government, Current World Affairs, and Social Studies. I have published seven articles in three different ISBN registered academic journals in Linguistics, American Literature, and Education. As an online tutor, I have used an interactive based teaching approach to be sure students progress step by step with a focus on utilization and controlled practice in each lesson. Over the years, I have learned all I can about the diverse learning styles of my students and have made my classes a place where students feel challenged, yet comfortable. My goal as a teacher has been to draw out of the students’ courage, imagination, and leadership, with the goal of developing their self-confidence.
