Über Mich

Hi all,

Nice to e-meet you. Bonjour! Ravie de te e-rencontrer! My name is Laura, I am a French native speaker who has been living in Sydney for 5 years now. Mon nom est Laura et je vis a Sydney depuis 5 ans maintenant. I am also an FLE (French as a Foreign Language) tutor. I teach to all levels A1 to C1, all ages from 5 years old kids up to retirees. I have lots of IB (International Baccalaureate) students. My sessions content and methodology vary depending on the students' levels, their ages and interests. I personalise my lessons for each student depending on their needs and their requirements.

We will have fun and practical conversational sessions based on videos, audios or articles related to your interests and activities. During these conversations, you will enrich your vocabulary, correct your grammar and pronunciation without even realising it. Why?
Because I will constantly assess your strengths and weaknesses and pinpoint each of your errors to focus on what needs to be fixed to reach the next level.

I know how difficult it is to learn a new language, it requires patience, consistency and someone attentive committed to helping you and rectifying you as much as possible. I am this person.

I’ll do my best to entertain and adapt to your level and way of memorizing to accelerate the learning process. I will share with you proven tools and methods that I have been using to make you fluent in French as fast as you possibly can be.

I give homework (if you agree) and I translate articles with/or for some of my advanced students. Je donne des devoirs à la maison et je traduis des articles avec ou pour mes étudiants.. I like explaining grammar and conjugation rules.

For instance, do you know how to choose the imperfect tense versus perfect tense?
The imperfect is used in various contexts:
- to describe something in the past, for example, « Il y avait beaucoup de monde au magasin ce weekend. » There were lots of people in the shop this weekend.
- to speak of habits in the past. For example: « Il allait toujours fair ses courses dans le même magasin. » He used to always go shopping at the same store.
- to speak of a secondary action in the past. For example: il dormait quand soudain son téléphone s’est mis à sonner. So the main action here is: the phone started ringing, ‘S'est mis à sonner’ - perfect tense or passé composé, however, the secondary action that explain the situation or circunstances is : he was sleeping, "il dormait" - imperfect or imparfait.

Once you'll book, I will be able to send you one or two tests to briefly assess your level and prepare the first intro lesson. Do not hesitate to guide me as it is your journey,

J'espère vous avoir convaincu de mon enthousiasme, de mon envie de partager et de transmettre et je vous dis à très bientôt, j'espère!

Cheers Laura
