Über Mich

Hi,
My name is Mariah. I am working on becoming a high school English teacher in Hawai'i. My first experiences teaching English were as an undergraduate in Hawai'i. I went to a very international college and worked as a teaching assistant helping English as a second language college students with their reading and writing skills. I have also worked in Japan where I taught English classes to a range of ages from toddlers to adults. While In a Japan I taught private and group lessons for a variety of skill levels. Most recently, I have taught English to middle school aged children, working on their writing, reading, and speaking skills.
For my teaching style, I like to use things you’re interested in to learn English in a context that is exciting for you. For example, some of my favorite English lessons are using examples from literature, music and film to learn about English grammar, conversation and culture.
