Hello! My name is Heeyoung, and I'm a native Korean living in France with a French husband! Because I lived outside my home country for so long, I deeply relate to those who are going through the same and I enjoy getting to know about my students on a personal level. I've had many students of different levels and nationalities over a course of three years, and I look forward to meeting everyone who's interested in starting or continuing their journey in learning Korean. { TEACHING METHODS } 1. BEGINNERS Goal: Reading Korean effortlessly and feeling comfortable with basic conversation. - Hangeul (Korean alphabets) / Reading words - Pronunciation and intonation correction - Basic grammar including past and future tense / Informal polite form (-요) / Learning how to greet, ask questions and answer, and talk about locations, family, food, weather, your emotions and everyday life / Common expressions / Getting used to the different particles 은/는, 이/가, 을/를 etc. We'll learn basic grammar and sentence structures and practice reading and speaking through short dialogues. I'll be teaching mostly in English at first but I'll start to limit it whenever possible. 2. PRE-INTERMEDIATE ~ INTERMEDIATE Goal: Having longer free conversations about everyday life and on a given topic. - Getting used to different levels of politeness, mainly the honorific form (-시-) and informal casual. - Advanced grammar including reported speech and common sentence endings (-네요, -잖아요, -냐고요? -지요?) For this level, I'll be using textbooks with audios to listen to. I'll only try to use English when explaining grammar or something complicated. 3. ADVANCED Goal: Talking freely and speaking naturally like a native. If uncomfortable or limited in free conversation, I'll offer materials to read or listen to and we'll talk about them together.

Hello, My name is Euisook Kim. In 2009, I completed the course of teaching Korean as a foreign language to foreigners at Yonsei University. After completing the course, I have more than a year of experience teaching Korean language to different nationalities such as Italian, American, Singaporean, Chinese and Mongol students. My method of teaching includes daily conversation, newspaper articles, K-pop, K-drama and using textbook materials. Then I will correct sentences grammatically and teach you more relevant words. I have lived in many countries in the world like Switzerland, China, U.S.A and Philippines which is helping me to understand different accents. During my stay in Switzerland many people helped me to learn Italian and German. Through that experience, I understood the culture of other countries and at that time I decided to teach Korean to foreigners someday. Now I think I have a chance. I hope I can help you in improving your level and make you speak better. I am teaching on www.preply.com as well.

Hello! I am Meena from South Korea. I am a professional Korean teacher and passionate language learner. I completed a program on teaching Korean in grad school and since 2013 I’ve been teaching many students from different backgrounds. The majority of my students work in business in Korea but I’m also teaching kids at the moment. I also taught in a Korean Language school in Canada for several months. *My thoughts on learning languages Since my passion is languages, I spend a lot of time watching polyglots’ videos in which they talk about effective ways for learning languages. They have different points of view regarding studying grammar, using flash cards, when to start practicing speaking and so on but one thing they all agree is that you need to do it every day. I couldn’t agree more on this point because I had amazing Spanish teachers before but I didn’t practice every day even though I enjoyed their classes. As a result, I remained in beginner level. *My goal for you, how to get most out of my Korean class What I can help you with is to reach you intermediate level in which you would be able to have daily, casual conversation without any major discomfort. I’m offering you more than just one hour class a week, which means you should do homework after class. I have a system where, aside from our weekly one hour class, you need to commit 10 min a day or more depending on how motivated you are to speak Korean naturally without spending too much time having to recollect what you learned. (Homework can be different depending on goals but the main idea of homework is to have you create relevant content based on what we covered in our previous session and to practice many times to get used to using the language.)
